A Helping Hand Ghost Of Tsushima Quest Guide And Objectives

The Iki Island expansion in Ghost of Tsushima introduces players to a variety of subtle side quests that enrich the island's story. Among these optional tales is A Helping Hand, a heartwarming side quest that focuses on assisting a humble peasant named Emotaro as he strives to rebuild his home after it was destroyed by Mongol forces. Because this quest is unmapped and relies on finding campfire smoke across different regions, tracking down Emotaro can prove to be a unique challenge for players.
Starting the Quest and Finding the First Location
Before you can begin assisting Emotaro, you must first complete main story progression on Iki Island, specifically finishing The Eagle's Cry quest. Once eligible, you can spot rising white smoke near the woods north of Tatsu's Ladder, where Emotaro is searching for materials. Speaking with him prompts his first request for crafting supplies, requiring you to hand over 3 pieces of Yew Wood so he can build the initial frame of his new house.
Gathering Materials across Iki Island
After your initial encounter, Emotaro moves across the island to gather additional building resources, which requires you to seek out his campfire smoke in two more distinct spots. You will find him next in a field near Lake Nagata or Kidafure Battleground requesting 6 Predator Hides to insulate his roof, followed by a final meeting at the beach near Zasho Bay where he asks for 10 pieces of Iron. Ensuring you have these basic resources stocked in your inventory ahead of time makes progressing through his requests much smoother.
Visiting Emotaro's Completed Homestead and Rewards
Once you have provided all three requested resource donations, the final objective directs you to visit Emotaro's brand new homestead located west of Fort Sakai. Arriving at the site reveals his fully constructed house, where he warmly thanks Jin for his generosity and expresses hope for starting a family. As a token of gratitude for completing the quest, Emotaro rewards you with the Charm of Iron Grip, which stabilizes Jin's aim when holding a fully drawn bow.
